We are learning about Christmas today we learned about foods.

I learned that in Norway they put out gingerbread houses for Santa.

Bus driving pigeon?

WALT write an opinion. We read some books about the things a pigeon could get up to.

Bus driving pigeon?

I think the pigeon should be able to drive the bus because …

If he was to drive the bus he could just sit in the seat and pretend to drive.

Because the pigeon is so small, he could sit on the driver's lap and just help steer.

Finally I think the pigeon should be able to drive the bus w?hen he has learned how to drive.

This is why I think the Pigeon should be able to drive the bus.

Christmas Eve

WALT  make our story as creative as possible.

What was that it was probably the wind the kitten thought. Bang ! creak creak.

(claw) the monster clawed the kitten with his long rotton nails aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh the monster screamed the cat was hanging off the monsters beard !

Te Manu Tukutuku poem

WALT:In our poem we had to include a Simile,Alliteration and Emotion word.
In our learning for the poem we had to put Emotion words, Alliteration to make our poem cool and a simile we had to look at the class, touch the walls, smell the air, listen to the noise and feel how you feel about.

I feel nauseous with excitement walking  into a new chapter of my life.

I hear screaming of excitement playing on the new playground.

I see smiles shining and sparkling all over the school.

I smell the clean and refreshing fragrances as the new furniture.

I touch all different textures, soft, rough, rugged, all kinds on the walls.

I feel proud to be able to put other people’s lives in my hands at road patrol.

New Zealand Day 7 bonus

For the last two week's it's been a ride of my life s I've only done it for 4 day's but I've learned a lot about New Zealand not even realizing I just did it on my chrome book. But some day's it's been hard and painful.

Calendar Art

In art time we have been doing our calendar art and I choose to do a koru.

New Zealand

WALA New Zealand and today was Auckland tommorow we are doing another place in New Zealand.

In Activity 1 we had to chose 3 things that are cool in New Zealand.

• Camping because kiwi’s love to tour around New Zealand and it’s a amazing place to camp.
• Rugby is the most popular sport in new zealand and lots of people are watching it.
• Hongi are what New Zealand use to celebrate or to cook food.

In Activity 2 we had to chose 5 things that are cool in Auckland.

• Sky tower:because it’s a fun place to see the view and overcoming your fears.
• Rainbows end : because kids can have fun and play.
• Zoo : you can feed the animals.
• Park: you can climb trees and relax.
• Museum: you can look back in history.

Logo Design

Bread

               Bread

Goal: To make bread

Materials:

-2 bowls

-measuring cup

-mixer

-baking tin.

Ingredients :

-yeast

-sugar

-warm water

-flour  

-salt

1.First thing we had to do was to go and WASH our hands before we touch the ingredients because if we do touch them and we haven't washed our hands it will spread germs and other people might get sick which is not good.

2.After once we all finished washing our hands we went up to the table and got the ingredients out and ready to make White Bread. The first step was to Mix the flour, salt and yeast altogether, then add the oil and tempered water then mix them thing together. If the dough   seems a little stiff then add 1-2 tbsp of water.

3. Then well mixing tip onto a lightly put flour on the table then knead. The leave in bowl for 1 hour after that then leave in fridge.

4. Line a baking tray with parchment. Knock back the dough, then gently mould the dough into a ball. Place it on the baking parchment to prove for a further hour until double size.

5. Then heat oven to 220c/ fan. Then make sure it's cooked probably before you cut a cross on the top then let it cool down then slice it into pieces.

6. Then you can EAT it yummy yummy.

For Digi Awards a group set up a Make Their Day Shop.I could buy an ice block and in instead of paying with money I paid with a kind act to make someones day. I chose to smile at someone day. I chose to smile at someone for my payment for  my ice block.

Don't Sub Add!

WALT solve subtraction problems by using don't subtract add.
In maths we are learning to make subtraction questions easier by changing them into adding questions. So for example if I had 76-34 I would change it into 34 + ? = 76. This is my DLO on don't subtract add.
Walt: I am learning to solve subtraction questions by Don't Subtract Add.
Success Criteria: I am able to reverse subtraction questions to make them easier.

Tornado Story

WALT Explore and discuss major features of the weather.
I choose to write an information report about tornadoes because I thought that it would be interesting.
First I made a general statement then a Description then a Evolution

Tornadoes

Tornadoes are a strong wind that forms into the shape of a cylinder. If you see a tornado  get as close to the ground or even underground, like a basement or a ditch. If you are in a car  don’t stay in the car because it can be sucked up or if you are close to a bridge park the car under it and then cover you head then you can get hurt.

A tornado is violent wind that wrecks the land that is wind that is strong  enough can throw the cars around.

What's the difference between a tornado and a cyclone. Technically, a cyclone is any kind of circular wind storm. But now, it is only used to describe a strong tropical storm found off of the coast of India.

What is the difference between cyclone, hurricane, tornado and twister? ... Hurricanes and Typhoons are the same thing, but in different places and Tornadoes and Twister is the same thing as well.

Sometimes a Tornado's best friend is lightning.  

When you hear this  tornado siren you need to move to somewhere safe.

I think Tornados are really cool I would like to see one but I don’t want to be in a state that

has one like tornado alley.

Amazing Interland

Interland is a game that can remembers to kept your password to your self and you get to make a password for this one there are 4 games I chose Tower Of Treasure its the orange game.

Stormy Night Art

This Term we have been learning about weather.In art I created a stormy night picture.

First I  painted the background with dark blue light blue and black. Then I had to draw the silhouette with black paper and I drew some buildings and a tree with white crayon and then cut it out. Then we had to put on our name's.

Then I used white paint for lightning that could not be thick and not in straight lines. Then we used black paint for the black cloud that the lightning came out of. I dabbed it  using PVA glue to stick the silhouette down on the paper.

Rainy day art

WALT use crayon and dye to show movement and ripples in a weather feature

First we drew rain and puddles with white crayon. 

Then we drew a rainbow with coloured crayons. 

Next we dyed the art with a dark blue and a grey to show the rain clouds.

Winter wonderland

Winter Wonderland

The coolest place in the world  is the coldest place. It is mostly two colours white for nearly everything and blue for the sky and sea but there is always some part that is black.

The wind is  freezing,bone-chilling and  windy with the windchill The wind blows all the time. It pierces many layers of clothing and numbs your ears, fingers and toes. It would not be long until hypothermia sets in.

It would feel like a ice block that is really cold.

I see a sparkling white world with mountains and nothing in the distance .

I hear waves crashing into the rocks and birds squawking like they’re having a party in the air while the bones of the ice are cracking and the wind sound’s like an owl.

I think Antarctica is an amazing place. I think it would be an extraordinary place to go but I would not like to live there.

Spencer Park

Spencer Park

On the 10th of March 2017 the year 4,5 and 6  Learning Community went to the amazing Spencer Park with some parents.  We went there to bond and get to know each other better.

When we got there we had morning tea under the big tree . Mrs Dinnington put out the blue tarp because the grass was wet. After we ate we had a wee play on the playground.  It had three flying foxes you sit on. Layla and I found a secret meeting spot at  the bridge that we had found.

After that we went to the amazing beach that had nice blue water. We were not allowed to swim because is was not safe. What a bummer! We made some towers  and unfortunately my team did not win but congratulations for the team that won. Then it was beach races.

Soon it was time to have lunch.  We put out the blue tarp again and ate till the teachers told us it was time to play. We were allowed to play sports or play on the playground First I played a small passing game with Layla then we went off and played. I went on the longest and biggest flying fox there. Then after I finished I went and played volleyball with Mrs McGuinniety and Logan.

Soon it  was time to go back to school and then home. I wish I could go back there again with my family and friends because it was a spectacular day there at Spencer Park. - By Lily
