Hi Lily In a legend that I have read I found out that before they were stars they were actually fish from the ocean. Their mum told them not to go playing about in the ocean because a giant goes out fishing but they forgot what their mum told them and they went. Soon enough they got caught and then something happend that I forgot but after that they got thrown into the sky and now they are called Matariki.

You probly already knew that altoghter is 7 stars beacuse of Martarki and the 6 sisters.
