Summer Learning Journey 2018--2019

This summer I am doing the Summer Learning Journey. This year its all about our world it looks at Sustainability land,sea, air and world. This year our seniors from South Hornby School we are writing what we would like for a prize or prize's under or just 50 dollars here's my idea. A remote control car or drone, movie tickets,  and hair products.

Life ed

For this week we have had Life Ed Harold the giraffe. We have learnt about T.E.A.M. We have had the Life Education come and we learnt its good to be different because we have our own opinion. The activities ping pong sentence, clap game, watch video of people being the same and kids fighting over what to play.

For Cybersmart this week we have been making a slideshow to show blog comments. Here is mine.

Calendar art

For calendar art this week we have learnt to use repeated patterns using google drawing.
I really enjoyed making it but I found hard trying to find a pattern, but the easy part was making the photos.

Hokey Pokey Play

This week we got to choose any Writing and I choose a play this is my play.

Because of Walter

Over the last 6 weeks we have been learning and reading a book called Because Of Walter   By Carol Krueger. I have loved this book and I would recommend it to people that love long detailed books. I have moved from many ideas to linked ideas. Kaysha is a great girl but she has grown up in different houses.

Hokey Pokey

For this last week we made Hokey Pokey and this is my writing.

Have you ever tried Hokey Pokey, or  Hokey pokey ice cream. Did you know that Hokey Pokey was tradinaly made in New Zealand so cool aye.

First we got these ingredients,

Golden syrup

Sugar

Baking soda

A Pot

A Spachelor

A Tray

Baking paper

Oven

Teaspoon

Next Mrs Jack got the Golden syrup and half a cup sugar and place it in the pot and put the pot on the elements that were on the oven. In that time the golden syrup and sugar combined to a mixture when Mrs Jack stered it with a spachelor. We were waiting for the sugar to dissolve.

After the sugar divossed we timed it for 3 min minutes. After the 3 minutes Mrs Jack took the pot off the oven and put in 2 teaspoons of baking soda in the pot to make a chemical change. The baking soda made a gas called carbon dioxide to make it fizz.

Then Mrs Jack tipped the combined mixture onto the baking paper that was on the tray and it looked thick, fluffy and crunchy.

After that Mrs Jack put it out to set.

I think the baking soda made the hot sugar rise because of the carbon dioxide and how it made the Hokey pokey thick.

Phonics

 For phonics the off phonics group do word searches. They are different than the real ones you would do for fun. You get given 4 prefixes and you have to find words that start with those prefixes the 4 prefixes were sub, com, pro and en. There are 24 words to find each time. This is not the only thing we do sometimes we need to make something to teach somebody else about prefixes.   

Pop,fizz,froth

In Science we have been learning about chemical reaction.

I am starting to learn about science and change. This is what I found out today. What new information can someone tell me.

Weather

This is what I know about weather. Please comment and share your knowledge about weather so I gain more information for my learning.

How to work scissors

This week we have been writing about how to use scissors.I don't know why this is my writing.

First get scissors.

Next put some of your writing fingers into the holes thumb in top or small hole than two other fingers in the other hole.

Slowly open your hand in the scissors.

Put a piece of paper in between them and push your hand together.

It will make a cut.

That's how to cut and use scissors.

Carnival

These next 2 weeks I am going to learning about Carnival. I don't know anything about the Carnival. If you do comment and it would be great. I will make a blog post at the end of the next 2 weeks so you can see what I learnt.

Chinese New year

For these next 2 weeks we are going to start learning about the Chinese New Year. I don't know a lot about it but I do know how they have big festivals. If you know something about the Chinese New Year  comment down below. Thanks

Using Our People Powers - Make Their Day

Today we talked about how we can make people's days 
During this week I will make people's days by

• Smiling to people
• Complimenting people
• Saying something nice to people

I will catch up with you next week to let you know if I have done them.


Last week I said I would Smile at people,Compliment people and Saying something nice to people and I did all of them and they said thank you back to me. When I was on road patrol I waved at drivers when they stopped and they put a smile on their face and it makes me very proud to be a road patrol kid.

KALLS Time Travel

In Math we have been doing a time travel booklet in a group. It was so much fun we did 2 different activities and here is the group slide of the activities.

In literacy I have been learning about vocabulary for impact.

We looked at a picture and thought critically about it. We used lots of reflective questions to think about the picture.

I found doing the vocabulary challenging because I had never done it before.

Being responsible with chromebooks

In Cybersmart I have been learning about being responsible with chromebooks.
First we put our prior knowledge on a Padlet. Then we buddied up and created a poster of information about being responsible with chromebooks.

I found it hard typing.

I found it easy doing the colours.
